With each chance encounter, one opens up a small window to let
another human being look into his inner world. But how far can this opening
lead to?
If we don't understand another human being at a deep level (how he feels,
what he likes, his desires and thoughts...), can we truly understand
ourselves? If we don't understand ourselves, how can we understand humanity
as a whole? Over the course of human evolution, our economies have grown,
technologies have advanced, but wealth and modernity is only the means not
the end. Have we really become happier? Are we more hopeful about the
future? Do we feel more fulfilled in life? How many husbands and wives
raise children and pay mortgage together but live like strangers? How many
parents know their children and guide their personal development according
to their inherent traits? Social activities are abundant, but how many
build connections beyond superficial contacts? And collaborations are only
thin threads waving upon short-term benefits. Being polite is nice and
important. Humors are good and helpful. But only deep understandings about
each other can make humankind a better race and the world a better place.
Understanding
begins with each chance encounter.
