Spring Comes

On my walks along the river, I see flowers blooming and leaves budding on the same trees besides dried fruits from last year. They open up with full force and seem not to be bothered a bit by their death experience of every year. It makes me wonder whether they simply forget their past easily, or they only look forward, or they have lived long enough to understand that changing is the nature of life and they have well tuned to the rhythm of change.

In the movie Hiroshima, Marguerite Duras was telling the same story about humans. No matter how significant a piece of history and how dramatic a personal experience, they all tend to fade as time goes by. It is, indeed, sad and even scary to admit this.

Is it possible that forgetting is not a curse but a blessing to mankind? If everything can be forgotten and everything will be forgotten, and we don't know what will happen in the future, then what do we have? Maybe all we have is the present and all we can do is to live the moments while we have them.
