On Faith
Once I met Pope
John Paul II in Vatican City. He shook hand with me, and others kissed his
feet. Another time, I ran into a man who was arranging rocks in the river so
the river could flow in a way he wanted it to. He told me that he had seen
Mary (mother of Jesus), he didn't have a job and God took care of him. He
also told me that all my questions about Jesus Christ and God have been
answered by John Paul II in his book, Crossing the
Threshold of Hope. I read the book. Still, I don't believe in Jesus Christ
and God. It's simple: all his answers refer back to the Bible, and if the
Bible itself is a fable, his answers are not founded on fact.
But I do think whoever came up with the idea of Jesus Christ and God were the wisest among all humans. Not only had their sharpest eyes penetrated through all layers of decorations on human faces, and seen a truly self-centered nature of humanity, they had also recognized nothing else could possibly change this human nature, so they had to create a myth. Indeed, the Bible is marvelous in this sense. And perhaps God is, indeed, the only saver of humanity. |
