Man and woman. Young and old and children. All gaze upward. From Beijing to Shanghai. From Taiyuan to Chongqing. From China to Vietnam, Nepal and India. As if a miracle is to be revealed. Is a UFO coming to the earth? Somebody looked downward: "The ground shadows of tree leaves were surrounded by hundreds of little crescents." But what I see, when the sky and cities darken, is the curiosity of humanity reclaimed for a moment, clearly. If I could, I would. I would pray. Pray to the sun god: Please stay as a new moon or be that diamond ring a little longer! What's the use of your bright lights if they don't light up the boredom of human life in which curiosity for wonders got lost? Note: the photos are from
the New York Times on July 22 2009. |
