On Barton Pond today, this little guy was swimming close to the water edge while I was walking. He was surely in a good mood for playing. He would disappear suddenly under water, only to show up again far ahead without a trace while I was still waiting for him where he vanished. The second time, after he disappeared, I watched more carefully - the water was clear, and I didn't believe he could get away without me noticing. I was wrong again - he showed up again far ahead of me. After that, I learned to look ahead after he went under water, and would spot him closer or further than where I thought it would be. Like this, the game continued a couple of rounds from one end of the path (the old hickory tree) to the other end (the dam). And the last time he showed up where I anticipated him!
