I could spend hours with them trying to figure out what’s in their heads. Today didn’t get to see the lion cubs and their mother – the other obsession of mine at the zoo.
A side note: these stairs are in no way comparable to those on Buck Ridge; still I feel grateful to the people who made it possible to walk through interconnected parks across an urban landscape all the way to and back from the zoo, greeted by turtles, butterflies, baby rabbits, and a rose-breasted grosbeak. Rachel Carson was right, “Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the Earth are never alone or weary of life.”
